GEO Targeting Demystify

GEO Targeting also known as location targeting, is a way to target people in a specific location using Adwords PPC. This has since help a lot of Adwords users eased in getting targeted traffic, especially if they are offline business owners. It has made a huge difference in the Adwords users now.

What can GEO Targeting do for you?

GEO Targeting has two distinct advantages;

1) To show your PPC ads in certain location

2) To find out which location or counties or cities are looking for the products or services you are providing.

To show your PPC ads in certain location. This is especially good for those who owned offline small business, as offline business can only serve its purpose in a certain area, take for example in Singapore (smallest country in the world). You can just set your campaign to target Singapore only if your business is located there. Although Singapore is a small country, it is in fact smaller than most of the large cities in other parts of the world. So it’s easy to just set to target Singapore as a country.

But what happens to those who live in large countries like United States, or even China?

You can set your GEO targeting PPC campaign to target the area your business is situated. What you need to do is to set Adwords where your business address is, and choose the radius (in Kilometers or Miles) from the business address, then a circle is drawn and all the ads will only be shown within the radius of the circle. As you can see below, you can choose how big your influence be by selecting the radius.

Do note that this will depend on your business management, how big an area can your business manage. There is no right or wrong here, its a matter of business management only.

To find out which location or counties or cities are looking for the products or services you are providing. This is more of finding out or testing, basically speaking analyze your customers into area or location. This is a great information when you want to drill to such depth. Most of the Adwords users do not tighten their campaign to such level. But to those who actually does this, they are basically targeting people who want to buy from them.

Knowing where these people are, can really differentiate between success and failure in business. Once you know where your most customers come from, you will put in most of your resources and focus on that area or location, and even use offline marketing. Having a market domination this way will certainly be a very smart way to market.

But you will need to take time to gather information and analyze the data. Only then will you be able to find out where are the most sales come from.
